About

“Will you share your recipe?” One of the highest compliments a baker gets is being asked to share a recipe. That’s how Random Sweetness began. I love to bake, and sometimes I cook, and when I share my sweets with people, I am often asked to share my recipes. So, here it is, a way for me to share my love of baking and cooking comfort food and other random things I enjoy like telling stories with photos and sharing recipes and baking tips. My specialty is cheesecake. I’ve catered many flavors of cheesecake to weddings, graduation and birthday parties, and fundraising galas.

I recently moved to Brookings, South Dakota, but we still have a place in the country on 22 acres in the land of 10,000 lakes and a bjillion mosquitoes—Minnesota. Although we live in the country, I am a city girl at heart, who would miss the country if we moved back to the city. November through early March our weekends are spent at hockey rinks across South Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa as my teen son plays youth hockey.

I grew up in South Dakota and now I cross the border between Minnesota and South Dakota each week. I work full-time as the corporate communications manager for an international company and I love it.

You will RARELY find low-calorie recipes here… some of them I’ve created myself. I will always credit the source of my recipes since I have an addiction to cookbooks, baking magazines and online recipes.

  1. Just found your blog randomly and I love it so far, especially all of the pics of kitchen tools, etc. Looking forward to some new sweet inspiration!

  2. I’ve recently switched my food blog over to be self-hosted which I hope will make it more user-friendly in the future. As a result, if you were following Can’t Stay Out of the Kitchen via email, WordPress, or using RSS feeds through Google Reader or some other way, you are no longer subscribed. If you wish to continue receiving future posts from my blog you will need to re-subscribe. Sorry for the inconvenience, Teresa.

  3. What an amazing list of recipes! I can’t wait to try one of them for Christmas. Thanks for sharing.
